Coca-Cola Buffalo is looking to take forklift safety to the next level. With heavy traffic in a small warehouse it is important to have as much early warning as possible when you might encounter another motor. Buffalo is currently testing a rear facing blue safety light. The light is mounted on the forklift roll cage and aimed down so it projects a spot on the floor 12 feet behind the motor. This allows for other operators to get an early warning that a forklift is backing out of a blind spot. It has proven valuable when backing out of product storage rows and freight trailers on the docks. The other operators see the light before the motor comes into their path. While the test has just begun the feedback has been very positive.
